FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

Welcome!

Welcome to the American Visions Art Gallery©
and the Thomas Kinkade Signature Gallery© online store!

Q: Does it really manner whether I purchase a counterfeit piece?
A: As collections of Thomas Kinkade artwork, you share the values and vision of the artist through his work. Counterfeiters and opportunists looking to benefit from the popularity of Thom and his work undermine the integrity of his vision and damage his ability to effectively share his vision with others. Also, dishonest practices run counter to the values of Thomas Kinkade, Lightpost Publishing, and those who share the positive vision of his work.

Q: What do I do if I think or know I have purchased an unauthorized reproduction?
A: We aggressively pursue a variety of actions against those who would benefit through the unauthorized, unethical, and illegal reproduction or use of Thomas Kinkade artwork and gift products. If you are aware of the sale of such items or have purchased such items inadvertently, we would be interested in knowing about it. Contact the Lightpost Publishing Legal Department at 800-366-3733.

Q: How do I know if I am buying an authentic Thomas Kinkade?
A: The easiest way to know that what you are buying is an authentic Thomas Kinkade is by purchasing through an authorized Thomas Kinkade gallery. You will not find authorized merchandise at flea markets, trade shows, or by street vendors.

Q: How does this problem affect the value of authentic Thomas Kinkade artwork?
A: Counterfeiting has the potential of damaging the perceived value of the authentic item by reducing consumer confidence that what they have is an authentic item. It also damages the value of the Thomas Kinkade name by undermining the inherent feeling of quality associated with Kinkade artwork.

Q: There’s a Certificate of Authenticity with the piece. Doesn’t that mean it’s authentic?
A: Not necessarily, it is common to forge a Certificate of Authenticity to help assure the buyer that it is “the real deal.” It is more important to trust the source when purchasing a Thomas Kinkade work. Counterfeiters are trying to cash in on the popularity of Thomas Kinkade and therefore are looking to make the most money for the least amount of effort, resulting in the use of poor quality paper and reproduction methods. There is generally a very obvious difference in quality. A common practice is the framing of calendar pages that are then sold as authentic gift prints for a “discounted price.” In addition, we have seen images reproduced and transferred onto magnets, furniture and other objects that are sold as gift items.
