The words coming out of this angel's mouth are purposely provocative and designed to make you wonder What does that mean? Its Latin, beatus est pisciculus, meaning Blessed is the little fish. Floating fish symbolize the magic all around us and they are blessed little things themselves, to bring this magic into our lives. Is the angel blessing the fish or the fish blessing the angel? The fish is a symbol I frequently use and this painting was meant as my for a lot of the magic in my life. |

"Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah.
And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights."
Jonah 1:17
I always loved the Jonah story, says James C. Christensen. When I thought about the scripture that said the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow the recalcitrant prophet, I went home and got to thinking that if I were God, I'd make a really neat-looking fish. So I painted what I thought it might look like. The thing to remember is that the window is a one-way mirror. If Jonah could see out, it would be just another vacation cruise. |

The veil between us and heaven can be quite thin or, at times, a little thicker. This girl's eyes are open to experience but, like other teenagers, the things she is most aware of concern herself, says artist James Christensen. There's a veil between who she is now, and the woman she will become, much less a higher power. She's not conscious of the angel that watches over her, says James Christensen. The key to it, though, is that we all have someone keeping an eye on us.
Angel Unobserved, a Christensen gem in the tradition of Sleeper Lost in Dreams and Men and Angels, combines beauty and mystery in an affordable fine art edition from one of the most collected artists painting today. |

Here a magical storyteller in the woods is telling fables to the characters who are usually in those fables. It simply the reverse of what happens in everyday life.
Specifically, the knight is patterned after Edward Burne-Jones paintings and he is a pre-Raphaelite, romantic painter that Jim quite likes. The woman next to the knight was inspired by The Lady of Shalott, a painting by William Waterhouse, which is in The National Gallery in London. Jim took her out of the boat, in her costume and had her come and sit down in the woods to be entranced with the story. |
